Welcome to the Healing Room
The undescended testicle (undescended testis) Is what has not been able to complete its normal passage from inside the abdomen into the scrotum. The undescended testicle is found in about 1% of premature male infants. Usually, only one testicle does not descend. Most undescended testicles eventually descend a few months after birth, and rarely come down after this period of time. Such cases are associated with impaired spermatogenesis, although the extent of disability can vary from a full stop of spermatogenesis up to a slight reduction in the number of germ cells. The undescended testicle can be corrected surgically, but the likelihood of restoration of normal fertility is low.
