Sperm Disorders and Infertility

The main cause of male infertility is the inability to produce enough healthy sperm. Azoospermia (complete absence of sperm in semen) and oligospermia (in which very few sperm are produced) both cause infertility.

At this point, it is important to note that although only one sperm is required for fertilization, the enzymes from many sperm are required to destroy the protective tissue around the egg and thus allow the sperm to penetrate fertilizers in the cytoplasm of the egg.
