Asthma is a chronic disease characterized by inflammation of the lungs
caused by chronic obstruction of airflow in the airways. It is classified as
controlled, uncontrolled and partially controlled. This disease leads to
contraction of the airway, the large production of mucous and bronchospasm
(contraction) causing air to pass with great difficulty to the lungs,
causing it to make greater strength to get the air causing fatigue, wheezing
chest, coughing and
breath difficult (lack of air).
Asthma can occur by heredity,
allergies, climate change, colds and flu or other.
The signs and symptoms produced by
the disease by the lack of air are: coughing, wheezing and fatigue,
including mucus, burning in the chest and aversion to strong smells. Despite signs
and symptoms the physician uses some tests to facilitate diagnosis. They
usually use chest X-ray,
blood tests, skin test, bronchial and spirometry.
The treatment is done using bronchodilator drugs to facilitate air flow by
dilating the airways, and inhaled corticosteroids, to combat inflammation.
To prevent asthma attacks, which can occur at any time, people who have the
disease should be mindful of the environment, and should avoid agents that
induce allergies.
