If you are concerned about fertility, the first
thing you need to know is you are not alone. According to the World Health
Organization (WHO), approximately 15% of couples of childbearing age seek
medical help for infertility, usually after a period of about two years of
failing to conceive.
The problem can be of either female or male. In general, the origin of
infertility is
- Only female in about 30 - 40% of cases.
- Exclusively male about 10 - 30% of cases.
- In case of a combination of both partners about 15
- 30% of cases show no abnormalities.
After medical examinations, the causes of infertility are
confirmed in only 5-10% of couples. The WHO believes that there are
approximately 60-80 million infertile couples in the world.
At present, and yet not be true consolation (but can certainly help to
understand the entire context) - pregnant is not so easy, even for people
who have fertility problems!
It is a little known fact that humans are among the least fertile creatures
on earth. There are only a very short period within the menstrual cycle when
conception is possible, which makes this probability is only 25% every
month. It is estimated that 10% of normally fertile couples fail to conceive
within their first year of trial and about 5% after two years.
Between 2 and 10% of couples worldwide are unable to conceive a child and
another 10 - 25% have secondary infertility, which means that after a first
successful pregnancy, are unable to conceive a second child.
